About

My artistic expression celebrates the natural world, capturing the essence of a place where sounds, smells, and the ever-changing British weather influence my approach. I focus on the arrangement of space and the interplay of light and colour, exploring how these elements come together to create a harmonious whole. Regular plein air painting around Torbay and Devon serves as the foundation of my creative process.

I'm always incredibly grateful for the continued support of my family, who nurtured my love for creativity from an early age.

My earliest memories involve sketching and exploring in my sketchbook. Growing up by the seaside and then moving to Bath and Bristol before returning to Devon again—from a small fishing village to a wild garden by the river and back to the coast again.

My earliest recollection of painting was encouraged by my mum's advice to 'paint what I see.' Thus began a steep learning process, which I believe is best summed up by Artist Robert Henri: "First we paint what we think we see, then we paint what we know, then we know what we see."

Though initially hesitant to share my paintings, my appearances on Sky Arts have helped, allowing me to embrace showcasing and discussing my art.

My artist residency at Cockington Court in Torquay, followed by my continued role as a tenant, has been pivotal to my artistic journey, with the support of site director Marissa Wakefield. A highlight of this experience was a visit from HRH Charles and Camilla, which marked a memorable conclusion to the residency.

My studio is currently based at Cockington Court.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead”.
